Ashleigh- my subject is teenage suicide

back

ashHow it effects me: At the age of 11 my friend age 13 committed suicide for a still unknown reason. I felt overly confused and upset and at such a young age couldn't understand or justify in my head how his life could be so bad and upsetting at such a young age that it forced him to do such a thing.

Some days I couldn't cope and was at an all time low and I got to the point of depression where I was diagnosed because i felt worthless and felt as if I was the one to blame for his death. I felt if i was there for him then maybe he would have talked to me and none of the issues would have occurred. A few days later it began getting around the school and rumours started mounting up about why he committed suicide, which sent my depression further as i wished i knew why he did it and couldn't find out for myself. I felt i had nobody to talk to about it as talking to the people who knew him such as my brother would make him feel just as bad as I did. Eventually I found places such as PAG where i found people who i could talk to about my issues, people who would help me and listen to my problems and give me advice on who to talk to. This was a huge comfort as I knew i had people who would support me and help me through anything i needed help with and always try and keep me on a positive track to achieving happiness and get my life back to normal.
