A STREET dance troupe can now step out in style thanks to a charity night.
Street Cheer Bounce ‘n’ Boom used to find themselves getting lost in the crowd at competitions.
But now, the dancers based at Pallion Action Group, are looking forward to buying matching uniforms.
The fund-raising night, at The Wheatsheaf, in Monkwearmouth, raised £960.
It was organised by John Reay, whose son Beaudine, 15, and twin daughters Sarah-Jane and Leona, five, dance in the group.
The night included a performance from the group, a drag artist, raffle, auction, and a performance by Karl Mullen, a contestant on Sky 1’s Showboaters.
John said: “It was an excellent night, a lot of people came along and everyone really enjoyed it.”
Deputy Mayor and Mayoress of Sunderland Coun Iain Kay and Coun Barbara McClennan were among the many to attend the event.
John added: “The Deputy Mayor and Mayoress were brilliant, they really got involved, they were even selling tombola tickets.”
Marie Mould, activities co-ordinator at Pallion Action Group, said: “John as a parent really went out of his way to organise this event and it was a great night. “The unique thing about Street Cheer is that they’re self-run so it’s not always easy for them to get money together for things so support like this is always great to have. “They’re all really looking forward to getting their matching uniforms.”

PAG volunteers involved in "Love where you Live" campaign
The campaign, backed by Keep Britain Tidy, is about everyone doing their bit and taking responsibility to change the way people think and act about littering.
We all love something about where we live and this campaign is about everyone working together to make change happen.
To raise awareness of the 3-year campaign, the City council is going to kick off by supporting a week of action beginning on Monday 19 September.
They have got all sorts of activities lined up from community clean-ups to bulb planting and we'd very much like you to come along and join in. You might even want to organise your own event with family, friends and neighbours, in which case we'll tell you how.
